The Grand Duchy of Flaadland was a self-proclaimed domain which replaced the Colony of Flaadland. Created during the tumultuous years of the Glorious Revolution, its creation was not recognized. The Grand Duchy was the idea of the Flaadlander scholar Malcolm Bexley, who wanted more autonomies for Flaadland. It was ratified by the Parliament of Scotland in 1690, and recognized by King William III in 1695.
