Shattered Stars and Stripes Revised is the Sequel to Shattered Stars and Stripes (Map Game).  This game details the chaos within the former US following a collapse of the USA. Now many states looks to establish dominance, while the US Military secures a small area of DC from the seceding states. Pick your State and prepare for Chaos. It is up to you to decide who shall rise, and who shall fall. 

Background

2021 - China’s economy overheats with GDP growth plummeting into the negatives, with the value of the RMB plummeting. This has a ripple effect, which cascades into throwing the world into another major recession. Unemployment reaches 15% within the United States and is coupled with skyrocketing prices upon many goods. Rising dissent occurs in the US, with several riots occurring and clashes between varied groups.

2022 - A revolution is staged against the Russian Plutocracy 

2023  - Central Mexico is devastated by a massive magnitude 9.1 earthquake, which levels several cities including Mexico City. This leviathan of a disaster, combined with the already destabilizing effects of the current economic crisis, results in Mexico becoming a failed state with cartels and rogue factions of the former Government battling it out over territory. This prompts millions of Mexican nationals to flee northwards into the United States.

This major migration only exacerbates the internal situation of the United States, with the already overburdened Federal government proving inept in handling this new calamity and dealing with the continuing economic problems. Efforts to provide relief to these refugees is met with outrage among many in the American public, who are just barely getting by themselves. When the Cartels begin to use the increasing lack of clear law and order within the Southwest to expand their operations (Thus bringing increased violence and drug problems), the Militia movement truly begins to explode in terms of members. Several bloody clashes occur along the border and within cities between fed up citizens and militia groups against the Cartels and the Mexican refugee

2024 - The Texas Governor goes against the Feds to use the National Guard to try to use restore order and force out the refugees, prompting the Feds to remove him by force. This leads to a renewed debate about States's Rights, while a small leftist movement arises in Liberal areas in response to the growth of the Militia movement. This group fights several battles with law enforcement, and manage to take a few cities while the Militias manage to start restoring order in the rural areas. Meanwhile, the conspiracy that establishes the US remnant in D.C. begins.

2025 - The US President is assassinated, proving to be the final straw for the United States. The US government is overthrown, the states begin to succede, starting the Second American Civil War….

Rules

1. Have Fun
2. Be Plausible and Logical
3. Mod word is law until proven otherwise
4. Algorithms can only be overturned by a non-participant mods
5. Disregarding an Algorithm will result in a ban
6. If a nation rejects your offer of Union, you need to wait 10 turns before attempting to peacefully absorb that state
7. This is a map game about a chaotic America, abuse of peaceful expansion will result in a punishment.
8. In the event that one nation unites the former US or a peace treaty is signed, the game ends
9. Keep things sane tech wise, no clones in 2030
10. You MUST attempt your own algos, barring the Result section. Even if you have no idea, you need to do the ground work otherwise your war may be delayed or even ignored.
11. Players who are inactive for more than 5 turns without informing a mod are removed.

Map Rules

1. No editing the map without permission from either a mod or the map maker.
2. Every nation should get its own color
3. Unlike last game, Vassals will be a slightly different color than your main nation. (i.e., if your nation is blue, all of your vassals will be light blue.)
4. Maps should be made every 5 years.
5. The maps should be named "SSSR (number of map)-Year"
6. Players may change their colors ONCE, and only if their new color is approved by a mod/ map maker.

Mod Rules

1. Mods will be chosen by a vote from the player
2. Head mod may veto someones mod-candidacy
3. Mods who are inactive for 10 turns are removed from their position.
4. Only neutral mods can mod requests.
   1. Mods may use a RNG to make a decision, or they may make their own. It is the mods discretion.
5. Mods may not mod there own requests UNLESS  there is no other mods active.
   1. Non-mods may contest this if they have a valid reason and be willing to provide sources to back up any sort of claim.
6. Mods may make events that either help or hurt a nation. They can not make positive events for their own nation under normal circumstances.
   1. Mods (and only mods) can grant "Popular revolt" or "Major enemy" bonus. These both give a substantial boost in the algorithm.
7. Mods can be removed by the head mod or a vote of players
8. Mods who are being impeached do not get a vote
9. Head mod can only be Downgraded to a normal mod if the need presents it self.

The Game

2045

Arizona: Arizona continues to build up the military for only defensive purposes. Some funding is put into public transportation and alternate fuel sources. The Arizonan-Nuevo Mexican Border continues to be watched over carefully and security is extremely high, so to stop illegal immigrants in their tracks. Cops across the nation are ordered to keep an eye out and continues cracking down on any drug cartels they find.

Agrarian Commonwealth continues to advance its military technology. The dirty bomb program ends. The Army also begins production on a further twenty new UACVs. The military expands to 60,000. Mass production of tanks, fighters and small-arms, especially the AK-47, continues. Oil production is mainly for export, and hydroelectricity and solar power are the main sources, along with nuclear. All nuclear waste is diverted to the dirty bomb program, however. Troops are moved into the newly conquered regions of Nebraska to keep order. The regions are unified into the Elkhorn Republic, an associated state of the Commonwealth, and placed under the governance of Ho-Chunk tribal leaders. With the new UACVs having proven highly successful in Nebraska, production speeds up. Exosuit testing begins. Kansas is divided into two vassals, East and West Kansas. All vassals expand eco and mil.

Federal States of New York: With the end of the war, a new holiday is ordained; Victory Day, May 18th. The military grows under the Centrists, with numbers reaching 100,000. We continue to produce Tanks, Planes, and other war materials in retro fitted factories as the government continues to support the expansion of Industry. Economy improves as well, with more jobs being created in both management and factories. Research into new military technologies, mostly Exo-skeletons, is recovered from the USR and distributed to the other CoL members. Elections are held this year, with 4 main parties running for office: Centrists, Social Democrats, Democrats, and Republicans. The Centrists win the presidency and the senate. The Social Democrats and Democrats continue to destroy each other, as they sap voters from their similar-minded opposition. The Unionist party makes a show at this election, gathering 3% of the popular vote.The Hercules Exo is produced, more effective than the previous model, it still can not be produced on a large scale, though it is still simpler to produce.As part of the effort to "Modernize" our soldiers, a Google Glass like technology developed by Corning is ordered for the New York Special forces (Currently in development by the US military OTL). This allows advantages such as seeing around corners and seeing finer details, like movement at long distances. it also includes night vision and thermal vision.New Jersey falls into our sphere, and influence on New England begins. • As in according the the CoL motion, the ASA launches a special forces mission (Altered RNG used, 1-8 passes, 9 or 10 is a failure, Result:8) Mission passes, the government of the AU is removed from power and killed. However, the Arizonan government also notes that one day they'll eventually merge with the ASA, if the public opinion supports it, and will have the first referendum take place in 2062 and if there is large support then, Arizona will go to prepare to merge into the ASA.

Hawaii: Economy and military improved, we come up to an end to take our possibility of searching the gold around the island. The Government said there isn't an issue of taking the gold, making gold will prevent the solid tradeables.

Conclusion

With only a few "Insurgent Groups" remaining, the ASA-USGO union takes down the remaining major powers. Over time, the other nations slowly join the ASA, with the Arizona being the last state to join in 2080. Hawaii and Alaska are eventually annexed as well, and many operations in the American South East bring the remaining territory into the ASA. Slowly, each nation is admited. by 2100, the only remaining Insurgent Groups are in Califoria, where combat units remain active, slowly putting the groups down. On July 4th, 2065, the ASA-USGO union is cemeneted, and the United States of America is Reborn. 

The new president looks at the paperwork and sighs. There is a lot. of work to do before the USA is rebuilt and the American Dream regins over all.
