Overview

The Modern World, 2017 (Map Game) begins on January 1, 2017. You can play as any country in the Global Firepower list. (http://www.globalfirepower.com), this is for a quick and easy way to find military strength. You can only used that source for military power. For economic, political and any other information, go to the CIA World Factbook (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/). For military units and missile designs go to Wikipedia (https://www.wikipedia.org/). The only military units you are allow to use is those in your current army or new ones you are building and designing as the game goes along.

You can do just about anything you like, so long as a real world government can do the same thing, Like make and join alliances, attend meetings, raise taxes, change government type, build military units, research reasonable techs and designs, invade and annex other nations, do a nuclear strike (although there will international and national outrage if they are the first ones and if they or their allies didn't attack, or on a nation who has not fired nukes yet), crush rebellions, adopt a state religion, nationalize parts of the economy, banned other parties, sign agreements (such as a no cutting down trees act), do embargoes and much more (Remember what I said at the top of the paragraph). You have to use real world names, for example if you play as Russia your leader's name is Vladimir Putin until they lose power or are too old to continue to work and retire. Please look at treaties that have been signed; such as NATO; who treaty states if one nation is attacked, it is seen as war to all NATO nations. Vassals also must do what the country in charge wants it do.

Make sure you have good casus belli, as UN intervention can happen against your country in a war with no good reason (a casus belli), such as conquest or to unite a religion under one nation. Conquering disputed territories casus belli are more likely. Attacking countries damages reputation depending on your casus belli. If you're a UN Permanent Member (China, USA, Russia, France and the UK) you can veto any war and stop UN intervention, even if everyone else votes for UN intervention. If you're a non-permanent member, your vote must have a majority unless it is veto by a permanent member. You stay as member until the following dates. Here are the 2017 non-permanent members link:

Once the year reaches 2050, you are allowed to colonize the moon, in 2100 allowed to colonize Mars.

Technical note

You need to have played a map game before taking France, Great Britain, Germany, Russia, Nazi Germany, the USSR, British Empire, French Empire, China, Imperial Japan or the USA.

Remember things like:

Nukes, chemical weapons and bio weapons are a major force on the battle field. If you want to use them, you MUST NOT GO CRAZY, IT'S NOT DD1983!
1. Nuclear war is limited by a doomsday clause- Maximum total yield per player each year is 5,000 KT (5 MT) and a total of 150,000 KT (150 MT) by all players added together in any one round.
The Russian army is larger than the entire population of Luxembourg for an obvious reason- there are many more Russians than Luxembourgers.
Don't go crazy since over-expatiation causes trouble.
Stay realistic. No daft stuff like Monaco conquering the world in a year!
The more mines, oil well, transport, infrastructure, bases, weapons, troops and factories you make, the better, since trade sanctions can stop vital imports like oil, aircraft and food.
A long war will sap morale for both parties, especially the losing side.
Jungle, desert, small atoll type islands, high mountains, big cities, major forts, major bunkers and polar zones make good defensive lands.
The mod(s) decide the outcome from their wisdom, but you can complain if you think it is biased.
Plausabilaty is in use, but not too strictly on this game. Non the less, don't go to crazy (no robot ninja space soldiers in 2010, etc).

2016 (4th quarter)

Italy: After the 2010s economic instability of Italy the Prime Minister, Gentiloni, presents a new economic plan to rejuvenate the economy. We begin showing more interest in the petroleum of Libya: we begin investing in infrastructure of the Eastern portion of Libya (Benghazi and Tubruk), controlled by Haftar, in exchange for this we want to have a stronger grip on the Eastern Libyan petroleum and gasses reserves; form then the crude oil will be brought to the Southern Regions of Sicily, Calabria and Apulia to be refined (these are Italy's poorest regions and so this might help to fix the economic disparity), and then the refined oil will be sold to European states. Furthermore we improve economic relations with Tunisia, Albania, Cyprus, Greece and Slovenia. We propel these economic relations by offering lower prices and especially lowering significantly the transfer taxes from these countries. Additionally we would like to allay Germany and the UK. We would be more than glad to help these states in anyway if they sought Italy's aid.

Tanzania: A small graphite mine is opened and the power distribution network is improved in Dar es Salaam. The limited Wi-Fi is improved and extended in Dodoma. We offer to sell some graphite to Kenya and Italy.
- Italy: Instead of buying graphite from Tanzania Italy proposes to build in Tanzania. The Italian Electricity group ENEL, is willing to build its first battery factory near Dar es Salaam. The factory will use the graphite from the mine and it will be funded by Italy and it will open job opportunities to the poorest Tanzanians.
  - Tanzania: We agree.
People's Republic of China: We Continue to stand by our claims in the South China Sea, and Build more artificial Islands in the Area, and Proclaim Other Southeast Asian Country's Claims as "Null And Void". Xi Jingping prepares for the 19th National Assembly Later this year in October. We send gifts to the Filipinos by plane, offering them peace if they back off from the South China Sea. China continues to Support Pakistan. We try to integrate Hong Kong further into Chinese Society by Secretly Demoting Democratically Elected Parliament Members and judges with Pro-Beijing Ones.
France: We expand our railways and attempt to close radicalized mosques with some success.
- French Diplomacy: We would like to give 5000 bottles of wine to Kenya and Tanzania. We would like to agree to buy several tones of graphite of of Kenya and Tanzania.

2017 (1st quarter)

People's Republic of China: We Continue to stand by our claims in the South China Sea, and Build more artificial Islands in the Area, and Proclaim Other Southeast Asian Countries' Claims as "Null And Void". We Attempt to influence the Taiwanese Population with propaganda, exploiting their "Free Media" as if The Republican Government that claims Sovereign Chinese lands decides to block Chinese Messages, then it would be Declared "Undemocratic" by the People of the Self Proclaimed "Republic of China" who are really just Separated Ethnic Chinese who were kidnapped by the Failed, Fake and Null "Democratic" China. Chinese Propaganda offers More jobs, Special Rights to Taiwanese Folk living in Taiwan that are basically the same rights they have always had, and the most important part, Unity between the Sino Peoples of the two Governing Bodies (They refuse to Call the State of Taiwan a "State" or Any sort of Political word that would Link it to be Being A sovereign nation) we Contribute 200,000 troops to the Fight against ISIS... but in Xinjang, an "Autonomous" region in China that is religiously and ethnically Turkic and Muslim then the Rest of China. The Chinese government has declared that the Protestors there are "Radical Islamic Extremists trying to eradicate the Values of Chinese Socialism, And oppress the Chinese People." China sends 2000 troops to Iraq to fight against the Real ISIS.
- Hong Kong (I'm just gonna to do Hong Kong Stuff like this now since it is an autonomous Region in China): Unknowingly to the people of Hong Kong, the Government employees they have elected aren't doing much Governing, as they are out of office with new Pro-Beijing Officials Replacing them. The Hong Kong General Election is Next year, and the New Governor of Hong Kong will be Elected, The Chinese Government quickly Puts in place Pro-Beijing Candidates but go under Pro-Hong Kong Campaigning Posters and Saying that "The Future of the Grand City of Hong rests in the Hands with Me! Vote for me and We will see a Strong, Autonomous Hong Kong." "Joshua Wong" a Hong Kong Civil Rights protester, responsible for the "Umbrella Movement" which took place for three days where Hong Kongers to to the streets with hello umbrellas, peacefully in repelling Hong Kong Riot Police, is arrested for "Acts of Corruption" as he did found a Pro-Hong Kong Political Party after that UM (Umbrella Movement). We continue to prosper under the "One Government, Two systems" policy which basically means Macau and Hong Kong's Autonomous Status in China.
- Macau: Macau, the more Pro-Beijing Autonomous City then Hong Kong, continues to be the "Las Vegas" of China, with casinos and Money slots everywhere, flashy lights and Bars too, prospering From the "One Government, Two systems" policy.
- Chinese Dip To Taiwan: We demand that Taiwan hold a Referendum my the end of the year to see if Taiwan will rejoin China.
  - Taiwan Response: the government politically says no. Some students protest for unity, but are arrested in Taipei.
  - Chinese reaction: Chinese and Communist Taiwanese peoples in China take to the streets as they are outraged by Taipei's recent Violation of Human Rights, the Chinese Government Denounces the Republican government for their Violation of "Democratic values" and Sends a storm of Propaganda into Taiwan promoting for Chinese unity and Saying that the Taipei government has Renounced freedom of speech, and the People of Taiwan should Protest against it, the Chinese government will support The protests and will Call for UN sanctions against Taiwan, who isn't even in the UN, and could cripple the economy as the US would also be ashamed of Taiwan, who thought was a Stable, and Idealist of Democracy.

(The US has a complicated relation with Taiwan, it recognizes China as China by the One-China Policy, but doesn't recognize China owning Taiwan, and the US made an arms deal with the Government in Taipei before the recognized Mainland China as China.)

Italy: We invest in the petroleum transportation from Libya to southern Italy, by the end of 2017 we plan to double the oil we buy and sell.

  - Italian Diplomacy to France: We accept France's political and economic deal. We invite the French president to come to Rome and discuss with Gentiloni the details of the treaty. We offer no transfer taxes to French goods in the Italian markets. Additionally Italy will be more than happy to provide France with all the refined oil it needs, as we in Italy offer one of the cheapest refined oils in the world. Additionally, the transportation costs from Italy to France will be much lower than the ones from Saudi Arabia or other Middle Eastern countries.
  - The Italian president Gentiloni from the 20th of march to the 27th of March will stay in Tirana Albania to discuss with the Albanian president, Ramiz Alia, about an important bureaucratic affair. Additionally the Italian electricity company, ENEL, would like to offer to invest in Albania to improve the electricity and internet connection throughout the country. If the Albanian government accepts experts from both Albania and Italy will meet in Durres, Albania, in April 2017 to discuss the big scale plan and develop it in details.
    - Secret: The Italian government is planning to improve relations with Albania so that soon Albania and Italy might unit. We want to begin investing in the country to show the citizens that an unification with Italy will be beneficial.
  - France: President Holland will visit Italy.
France: President Holland will sand down in 2017. It looks likely that either Macon, Le Penn or Mellachont will win. France renews its anti-terror state of emergency again and builds a new Renault factory in Cherbourg.

America and Malaysia are concerned over issues in the South China Sea. Panamá offers political support to China. Malaysia offers political support to the USA. An American patrol boat visits the Parcel Islands, but is only speed s past a few empty islands.
North Korea make a new short range missile launch, which splashes down safely our at sea.
The USA cautions Taiwan over the resent student riots.
An American cruise missile hits an Assad Regime air base. A F16 fires an air-to-surface missile into an ISIS training camp. (Secret: 200 American rifles are sent to the Peshmerga).
Libya's Tripoli and Benghazi local regimes consolidate power for the time being. They welcome Italy's help in the oil industry.
Tanzania: We begin to upgrade our coastal defenses and tourist resorts (it will take two years). We improve the internet in Dodoma. The sewers and water mains are improved in Dar es Salaam and Lindi. A spin dryer factory and several shirt factories open in Dodoma. We condemn the ISIS suicide bombers.
People's Republic of China: We Continue to stand by our claims in the South China Sea, and Build more artificial Islands in the Area, and Proclaim Other Southeast Asian Country's Claims as "Null And Void". We Attempt to influence tbe Taiwanese Population with propaganda, exploiting their "Free Media", which in a couple of minutes, Taiwanese news stations will probably be Overrun and Forcibly occupied and taken over by Taiwanese Police and all media outlets will be censored, just give it a couple of hours :). We Quickly accept Panama's Offer of support, with Xi Jingping Offering dinner with the President of Panama to talk about Panama's support for China. We demand that the US stays out of the South China Sea and Stops its activities near the Parcel Islands, as the Chinese Government claims it to be "Chinese Territory sense ancient times", more artificial islands are made around the Parcel islands. We Openly support Assad's Regime, Sending in 2000 Modern Weaponry to The Syrian Army under Assad, and giving food and aid to The Syrian army along with Syrians in Gov. controlled territory. More Chinese propaganda enters Hong Kong, with Many 20 year olds falling for it and internally being brainwashed, and Hong Kong Public becomes more Influenced by Chinese Culture and The Chinese Identity, with Hong Kong Media Outlets being Censored via replacing News Broadcasters and the people who own the news Company with Chinese and Pro-Beijing ones.

- Tibet: The Autonomous Tibetan Government lead by the Controversial Panchen Lama, continues to grow in popularity as the Tibetan people really don't know what's going on outside of Tibet and Know a little bit of outside China. Tibet continues its trend of Sino-ization some Tibetan Exiled Nationalists expect to see Tibetan culture to become almost extinct in Tibet as Chinese Culture is domination. Tibet continues to Prosper under China, and once again will soon be integrated into China proper.

- De Welt Report: A journalist from De Welt has heard it rumored, visited Hong Kong and found evidence of politically bias schooling. He publishes his work and Germany is both upset and concerned. (mod)
  - Chinese Response: after this, we ban foreign journalists from coming to Hong Kong, and we ban the book about Hong Kong Political Bias. No one In Hong Kong knows this as all news stations have been taken control of by the Hong Kong Authorities.
Taiwan: We choose to back off and not attack the protesters. It hopes the protests will die down soon, but is prepared for the worst. (mod)
Benin: The poor, agrarian state is doing poorly, but is currently stable and water security is not an issue in the north. cotton, pineapples, bananas, furniture, cement and coconuts are to be developed for export. Several southern coconut farms open. Officials tour the nation promoting both tribal unity and religious tolerance and unity.
France: The election goes ahead and Emanuel Marcon wins. We build 25 new medium tanks and start reforming labour laws. A new oil fired power station opens (to be run on Italian oil) and a new atomic power station opens. We send 50 troops to Mali to help local forces to fight Ansar Dine's Islamist thugs. Paris is in lock down for several weeks after the bombing.
Italy: We ask the UN and NATO for Italy to be allowed to momentarily occupy Libya. As of now Libya is united in the north, with Tripoli and Benghazi being united since the beginning of this month. Nevertheless in the southwestern portion of the country rebellious militia states are emerging: such as the Government of National Accord, Tuareg militia, Mujahideen councils, Libyan shield forces and other minor militia-states. Libya is united de jure, but de facto Libya is a region with inside many different fighting states. This puts under danger the local Libyan population: how can a government, and its people, develop if its borders are uncertain and the majority of governmental spending goes toward the military? This second civil war began after the death of al-Gaddafi in 2011, the two political parties had elections but both wanted power and hence the country fell into another civil war which is destroying the country since 2011, the previous civil war began in 2009 to fight the leader Gaddafi. Italy will momentarily occupy Libya to establish peace. After the complete unification of Libya, with the help of Italy, Libya and Italy will organize government elections and as the country elects its first well-established democratic leader the Italian forces will pull out. Libya's situation is not only a concern to itself but to all of the nearby countries, Tunisia, Egypt and Italy. Until December of this year in Tobruk ISIS had a strong foothold; with a failed government like Libya's what makes sure that ISIS does not occupy the city again? This is where Italy will come to place. Italy and the Libyan government of Libyan National army (most powerful Libyan state) will cooperate together to finally unify Libya after two civil wars which have lasted eight years so far. (All of Italy's actions and plans will be shared with all members of NATO and all countries in the Security Council of the UN, if all goes according to plans Italy will begin occupying Benghazi and Tripoli on January 1st 2018).
We continue to improve electricity, Wi-Fi and water supply in rural Albania with ENEL-Italia.
Diplomacy to Germany, France, Pakistan, India, China and USA: We in Italy would like to initiate the WEU (World Economic Union). This will be an economic union among all most economically influential states of the world to make international trading and any other economic activity easier. In WEU all businesses from other WEU members would follow tax laws of local businesses: hence no extra taxes. This Union will help us all both locally and internationally.

The UN is willing to send some diplomats and peace-keepers to Libya to help start to end the fighting.
Anti-Israeli riots hit the Gaza strip. The USA supports Israel and Lebanon condemns it.
North Korea make a new short range missile launch, which splashes down safely our at sea.
(Secret: 200 American rifles are sent to the Peshmerga and FSA).
Saudi Arabia continues to bomb Yemen's Houthis.
Russia continues to bomb ISIS in Syria.
20 American marines are sent to Djibouti and Iraq in case of a Houthi, ISIS and\or Somali attack.
Tanzania: We expend our graphite mine, improve coastal irrigation and condemn Ansar Dine.
People's Republic of China: We continue to claim the South China Sea as Rightful Chinese territory, and build even more artificial islands. We Began a mass Propaganda Wave in Taiwan, Exploiting their "Free Media", funding Pro-Unification Organizations and Claiming that "A Prosperous, Trustworthy government lays in the future if you side with China" and Call the Taiwanese Media "No longer trustworthy, look how they treated those last Protesters, they probably already ordered the Police to storm news buildings and forcibly occupying the Organizations taking control of them." We call for the Taiwanese Government for a referendum to take place, the Taiwanese Communist Party supports this greatly. In Xingjiang, the military presence is obvious, with mosques being blocked off from Muslims, but Xi Jingping steps in and orders the Chinese military to Retreat from the Province, and unblock the Mosques, he hopes for the autonomous Province to become more Like another "Inner Mongolia" which is an autonomous province in Northern China, on the border of Mongolia, or also called "Outer Mongolia". The place is Culturally different from China, but sees little to no Chinese Presence In The region, and are allowed to carry on with their lives. We send money to Russia as A sign of Chinese-Russian Relations. We send gifts and Propaganda to the Philippines, depicting China, Philippines, and Taiwan (but with the communist party of Taiwan's flag instead of Taiwan's official flag) walking arm in arm with the caption "Together we can make a Better Southeast Asia!", and offer the Philippines peace in exchange for their backing away of the South China Sea.we are happy about the Italian's W.E and hope it will bring great wealth to the world, we wanted Pakistan in the Organization as a main member as a Counter to India, and to better expand Pakistani Economic power and influence in Asia.
- Hong Kong: Hong Kong becomes more Isolated from the world, with Hong Kong drifting away forcibly from the west, and drifting closer and closer to China, with Sino-ization and patritization being taught in school and being Heard and seen on Hong Kong media. Hong Kong becomes more Chinese, with a stronger amount of Young Hong Kongers Being more Radical and Pro-Beijing then the older, less radical Pro-Democracy Hong Kongers. With foreign Influence Slowly diminishing, and Chinese Hold on Hong Kong politics, The Governor of Hong Kong is Ordered to Hold a Referendum of Hong Kong status in China. The referendum Suspiciously wins in a landslide for the Pro-Beijing vote, Making Hong Kong into a Loyal, more Chinese City, with Chinese police being Replaced with Hong Kong police, Hong Kong is now being "Integrated into Chinese society, as the people ordered it". Many suspect the election has been rigged, which is most likely true, with results being exaggerated, but nobody knows. Protests against this are quickly put down violently and the protesters mysteriously disappear over two nights. Hong Kong is becoming as loyal as Macau.
- Macau: we continue to prosper as the "Las Vegas" of China, thanks to the "One Government, Two systems policy".
- Tibet: We become more integrated within Chinese Society and Culture, with the controversial Panchen Lama spreading the word of the values of "Chinese Socialism and Tibetan Obedience to Chinese people", which actually works with Tibetans as they Become more and more isolated from the world.
- Russian and Philippine Responses: They are happy to help improve relations with China.
- Taiwan Response: They beat up a major pro-China student rally, close a youth web site and close a pro-communist web site.
- Chinese Reaction: the Taiwanese communist party go into exile in Shanghai, and call for the Chinese government to Shut down all trade with Taiwan, the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) is happy to oblige, and orders from any Sort of trade or economic aid to Taiwan be put an end too, and encourage China's close allies to do so as well. We Gibe the US a Stare as the nation they are supporting due to their democratic stable government is now falling into an Anti-China Authoritarian dictatorship.
